Smoked Headlights.

Quick question, i've taken apart the headlight and i'm about to spray it. Just wondering what have people used to cover the indicator area so it doesn't get any paint on it? Dont want that bit black as want people to see i'm indicating.

    Thanks, Ryan.

+1 the masking tape will take some of the reflective coat off (this is unavoidable) but when you put the indicator lenses back it is impossible to notice

do not smoke indicator reflective part as it will be illegal

Yeah i started going with the masking tape then it took a fair bit of reflective bits off so went a bit off the idea and thought there was a better way

Yeah i was gonna leave that bit, bought a new pair of headlights to smoke anyway but i want people to see me indicating

also headlight has a yellow lense so gonna have to pick up a clear one for that :/ that or may go for 2 yellows, dont know how this will look though, dont normaly see it.

clear lenses look 100x better imo

Yeahhh that was my thought, shame cant buy them new and have to hope someone has got one going spare. If all else fails can open up one of the other ones and switch them over, however that seems like a lot of effort just for the lense, and will ruin the glue/structure around it just for a lense

surely the main dealer will sell them mate, doubt they will cost much tbh

use a low tac masking tape. i just sprayed the whole lot on mine n put my clear lens's over them. its passed M.O.T so cant be that bad

i put silver bulbs that flash amber in mine to take that slight yellow tint away B)

Yeah had a look, thats the effect i'm going for Yeah never really thought about low tac tape, only flaked a lil when i pulled it off so that should give a better effect, tah

Do you know whether the dealer actually sells the indicator lenses/can order them in?

why do some headlights have one yellow lense and one clear??

is thi standard or is it something else??

Iv seen someone cut a piece of card to fit in there I think.

Yeahh i saw the card technique too but thought would need to be a very tight fit or some will get behind.

And also about the yellow lense, i think thats just how some came for some reason :/ Maybe to help the indicator? Like how on some cars its orange.

    Just my guess

cut a piece off a box, stick it in. doesnt matter if its not perfect, as you wont be able to see it when you put the plastic indicator cover on after
