does the head have to be taken off to change cams?

    no mate it doesnt just the rocker covers come off and the carriers underneath them hope this helps.

    It does. With the head on you can't get the cam out. You may be able to see it by taking the rockers off but you won't be able to get it out

    16v is cam covers
    then cam ladders

    oh right cheers, its just that im apart of a local car forum, and i said i didnt want to cam my car due to doing it properly is gonna cost me around a grand and i mentioned the head has to come off and they all said its news to them that a head has to come of to change a cam and i was sure you had to take the head off as i saw gsavil fit his cam and his head was off i was sure i was right lol

    i found it quite easy to change cams
    par the locking to tdc/timing cams.

    i wouldn't attempt it my self, especially my car is my only car if i ever start a real project car id be more swayed to try it but when i rely on my car id leave it to the pros lol ive had enough of rushing to modify my car becasue i need it daily lol

    i fitted a rallye head/inlet to my vtr engine and that experience has put me off messing around with the engine for life lol

    can deff swap 16v cams with head in place, 8v needs head removing to replace cam
