When i first put my foot on the brake my car makes a knocking noise once. The longer I go without pressing the brake the more likely it seems to be to do it. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks
Knocking noise when I brake!!!

#2can either be your driveshafts, knocking, meaning leaking cv grease or there just worn out, or strangly enough it can be our track rod end that might be loose.
-
#3I can't see anything leaking, how much are drive shafts? Are the easy to fit? I have no experience at all with cars yet

#4could be a wheel bearing. does the pedal vary in heights when you press it?
-
#5I'm not sure about varying in height but it is a bit loose i think because when i first press the pedal it feels loose for the first few cm before it actually brakes.
-
#7what i'm trying to get at is a wheel bearing can wobble causing the disc to press the pads back in the caliper causing more pedal travel required to brake. If frequent braking is done the pedal can stay near the top and firm. If not the pedal can go spongy and travel further

#8I do tend to have to push the brakes down hard to stop the car and they are quite squeaky but i know my pads and disks need changing soon so not sure if it has anything to do with that. The knocking noise has been getting more frequent since I bought the car as far as I can tell. Not sure if this helps
. Sorry, I still don't know much about cars lol.

#10mine kind of vib's when i break but i got told that i need 2 new front disc brakes

#11All I can do is change the brake disks and pads and go from there I suppose. As for the knocking, I hope it's nothing serious i'll have to see how it goes. A mate mentioned it could be the drive shafts, i'll have to have a look at them and maybe replace if I can, i've never done them before so could be difficult. Just trying to avoid large garage bills lol.

#12could be even engine mount worn.
jack it up and look
or take to a garage and get them to diagnose
