idle problems :(

    hi there well as it says at top

    when the car is just idle the revs die and like stalls ?? any ideas on how to solve this??

    can be solved by gettin a new idle control value, located in the inlet mani, or tb. Could also be a number of things e.g. Air block, headgasket etc.

    am thinking air block as if i just sit and rev it once or twice i see a hose kind of shut and open if you get me??

    Dont think i do. The only thing that should open and close should be the tb. Take off your air filter start it up, see if problem persists if so its idle control valve, (if no white smoke out of exhaust, mayo in coolant and oil cap) if it stops, then prob need new filter or cleaning.

    thanks mate will give it a go. when i say the hose opens and closes its like half way down the hose it looks like i have squeezed it and let it go everytime i rev it?

    bump

    as when i stop at lights and in trafic or what ever it drops revs goes up abit then just drops and like stalls

    help???

    get some carb cleaner and clean idle control valve throttle bodie and stuff around that sorted mine out a treat

    i will try that mate but as i had said mate i really dont know muh about this where is the idle control valve and throttle bodie lol sounds stupid but if you dont ask i will not find out

    take throttle bodie off and clean that and idle valve and all other parts are around it. there is a guide in here to clean idle valve. but i was having same problems as you over revving stalling, and also had juddering down road too. carb cleaned all around sorted it out

    the throttle body is what the iduction kit attaches to, this is what opens and closes the "hole" to let eh air in when you put your foot down. the idle control valve looks like a small motor, its like a cylinder around 6cm width, attaches to the intlet mani, just behind the rocker cover, or the throttle body. looks like this

    i am going to sell my car now really not happy but as i dont really know that much about the engine to fix it i am just going to sell it because if i take it to the garage it will cost me far 2 much to get it sorted and i cant do it myself so looks like there is no other option gaz

    depends mate, if you can get a pic of the hose i might be able to help , which hose is "collapsing" when you rev the engine

    maybe hose on air intake collapsing to throttle body due to blockage. engine sucks in air and collapses it?

    thats what i thought, but there shouldnt be any hoses going to the throttle body that are soft enough to collapse, normaly a direct induction kit or a standard plastic airbox

    surely someone off here would help you out for a few bob. i would do it ya for free if u were closer. am not bothered about the money, i just like working with cars.

    well laberridge i wish u were closer mate and i really love my little saxos and i had always wanted 1 from i was 14 and i had not long passed my test about just over a month ago and i thought yess i am getting my saxo vtr now and then this happens after driving it a month

    i wish some 1 could fix it or even for a small price but no 1 seems to want to. and i will take a pic of the hose tomorrow when i finish work and there is a big rattle noise that comes from it aswell when i accelerate i have been told it sounds like pinking and to sort that it would be the timing but all this stuff has just started for no reason just the last week or 2. i had had a look at the exhaust and heat sheld and that but nothing dont know whats causing that aswell

    well if you tell me the exact problem, or what needs doing, i'l make you a guide myself for you to do it yourself. if its nothing major lol.

    plenty of members on here from up your way mate, ask in your regions section see if some one will have look at it for you, and end of the day its an oldish car neva gona be spot on when you buy them

    no worrys mate, no where the thanks button is. seems very harsh to sell your car though becoz of this, when some1 maybe able to fix you this for next to nothing

    could this have anything to do with the plugs??? as i think 1 of my plugs has gone???

    could this make it cut out when i slow down and change gears at a round about or that??

    well i have found out what the problem is well i think and hope haha

    its the choke its because i havent got enough air going into the engine and thats whats cutting it out and thats whats making the really loud noise as i accelerate well i am hoping so i have taking my choke out and i am hoping to pick another up at a scrap yard or buy 1 of here if any1 is breaking a saxo?? it looks like this i will add a pic of mine and if it aint the choke and i have the wrong name for it please let me know thanks gaz
