HOW TO; clean water ways on cylinder head?

    as per title

    is there anyway to clean the water ways in the head without having to pay someone to do it?

    anything i can soak the head in?

    its all ready to go but im not happy with the surface rust thats beginning to appear...

    any help is greatly welcomed

    the head is alloy, it shoulnt rust,

    when your mum is out put it in the dishwasher

    have seem heads put in diswasher and came out clean

    ah fuck that mate i dont want to be eating of oily plates its bad enough shifting oil off my drive nevermind the mothers dishwasher

    The dishwasher is a commonly used tool. But not recommended.

    It doesn't do a great job. It fills your dishwasher up with used engine oil. You can't use any detergent as it will start to destroy the head.


    A good degreaser and a lot of elbow grease is your best bet. Toothbrushes to get in all the nooks and crannies. Then blast it all with a pressure washer to clear out the water ways. etc.

    Without using a bath to dip it in, you aren't going to get much better than the above.

    Lol i never knew so many people put them in the dishwasher, bit unorthadox but hey.

    got as far as i can go with the old toothbrush, might just leave it as it is and just use a 'coolant flush' product a couple of times to clean the rest.
