standard air boxes?

right i have a piper induction kit on my 1998 vtr but its an open cone and i was looking at putting a standard airbox back on but i wasnt sure which one to put on as it was already on the car when i bought it, i wanted one of the flat ones rather than the circular boxes but am sure the flat ones are only on the later mrk 2's and i dont think they will fit cause on mine i have some bypass hose which goes to the idle control valve, the hose comes from the cone its self and runs to the inlet manifold where the idle control valve is located,
if i was to get the flat box and it didnt have this extra connection on is it possible to just cut a hole in it and fix the hose on to it like where it connects on to the inlet its self as close to the manifold
    cheers

box and panel filter all the way bud. flat ones the onli one that will go on. Circular im sure are only on flat arches (1.1s and 1.0s). No reason why standard square one should not fit if you get all the pipes with it. Connects straight to inlet mani.
