#2id personnaly only use one if was going boost, due to the increased temperatures in the bay.
they probaly do more bad then good on a standard'ish engine as the oil wouldnt be heating up properly on short journeys.1 user thanked this post: -
#3there used in boosted cars to cool the oil after goin through the turbo are they not?
-
#4Incorrect, you can use them on either, basicly if you get one with a sandwich plate then the oil coller will only open when it gets to a specific heat so the oil heats up fine normally but when it gets hot it travel through the coller and cools the oil.

#5ye i know you can use them in both... but they are used in turbo cars for that reason no?
what i wanna know is what sort of bhp does the car want to be running before it would be worth having one? -
#6Its nothing to do with a certain bhp. If your cars oil gets too hot then you need an oil cooler. Get a reliable and accurate guage first then see what the temps are at...

#7only reason boosted cars sometimes have them is that obviously more boost = hotter oil which is why you have the oil cooler..
for what you want to do sam i don't think it's worth doing unless you can find one cheap with the sandwich plate in the for sale section

#8oil coolers unless on a car with boost, arent really warrented on N/A road cars.
ie, constantly driving at high revs for long periods of time would benefit from a cooler. -
#9o right
thats ok then... only really wanted it for the coolness factor
-
#11mate did that to his punto.... put an incooler on it... slated him so i couldnt do that aha
-
#12wanting an oil cooler for the 'coolness factor' is just as bad
-
#13haha ye but its only cool if it has a purpose haha
