vts crank pulley problem

  1. #1
i am having a few problems with my vts one of which is the bottom pulley rubber went si have removed this and am trying to replace it, i bought one from ebay but it is slightly bigger this wasnt a problem though as i just back the tensioner right off.
but when i started the car up it seems to be chewing the side of the belt to bits, i think the pulley is off of an 8v engine does any one know if the pulley is off set differently to the one on the vts? or any one having or had a similar problem?

When mine went i tried looking for one from an vtr. Someone told me they were different offsets am sure, which i didnt really want to hear. But i would look for another source just to confirm this. I ended up getting a gmc one, as thats what everyone recommended. Lighter and more reliable as its built from one piece of alloy minus a nice slice of rubber to perish
I think it was about £90 which at the time i thought was pricey, but now i look back to it and its worth it for peace of mind that it will be ok and not go again

    Can recommend the gmc one.

Just replace your broken one with the gmc one, should only take 15mins + you can still run the standard vts alternator belt

ok thanks guys, dont really want to spend out on the gmc one though as the car is being sold very soon

Just replace it with a second hand one?

Maybe eBay is worth a try. The gmc is cheaper than buying new from citroen

Scrap yard sounds best bet, but unless someone is scrapping an engine its abit of an hard find. I bought one on ebay a guy said was for a Saxo VTS but it was off a pug 1.6 16v and was slightly different...............so in end i gave in and bought a GMC one

    Good luck bud
