Important! : Sitting veryyyy hot need urgent help

Right I posted in here last week that my car was sitting hot. Well today, completely my fault checked the engine coolant level and left the lid off, only went about 3 miles, at like 70 speed though, then got a new one in town (think it's VTR, not universal) but just drove back from athletics and doing about 50, on parkway was sitting 7/8 up on the temp gauge.
Wondering if it's a HG problem that's just getting worse?
Also I noticed if I were to put my foot down the temperature gauge would go up almost like the speedo.
    Pleaseee help

might be dodgy coolant temp sensor mate..
the coolant might need bleeding too possibly? Are your heaters blowing cold?

I'll take that off and check it asap then, umm yehh they are blowing cold.

air lock mate. when you added new coolant did you open the little air bleeding nipples on the heater matrix?

As above then if they are blowing cold! Definitely an air lock, basically the coolant isn't getting around the system properly so its getting hot!

Yeah I did... Do you think it's worth a full renewal of coolant, like drain it all and put a new load in? Then whilst I'm doing that I can test the therm?

    Hi,

    Do consider changing your thermostat.
