1.1 box

I don't get what people mean when they have for example a vtr or vts and they have installed a 1.1 box. What is the benefit of doing this?

Shorter gear ratios mean more acceleration but at the cost of a lower top speed (around 115mph in 5th max revs IIRC) and increased fuel consumption due to engine revving higher than with vtr box.

In layman's terms remember your mountain bike gears?
The one you use for going uphill is like a 1.1 box. The one for flat ground is like a VTR box.

there have been a few threads about this recently and I need to know if there would be an advantage to putting a VTS/GTi box onto a VTR?

Would this help keep some more of the top end speed while giving you better acceleration??

Theyre about the same in gear speeds as the 1.1 box but use different ratios.

Makes a good difference on the VTR

Thanks, that makes sense. My furio does seem to keep the revs lower at the same speed than my clio 1.2 did.
