Changing Open Scandal Dials

  1. #1
Just like many people who own a Mk1 Saxo instead of having a rev counter in its place is a huge clock . And after a couple of months ive decided that enough is enough and im going to fit a rev counter in the clocks place. My plan is to go to my local scrappy and get a dial set from another saxo with a rev counter then switch the dials .Ive heard of some people attempting to do this before but none updating to say if the transplant was a success.

The only problem as far as i can see is how is the rev counter going to work. Assuming that because my car never had a rev counter, im thinking that it probably was never meant to have one and therefore not having the capability of running a rev counter.

If this is true, is there any other modifications that i will have to do to make the rev counter work.

    Thanks

    Grant,

I have recently fitted VTS clocks to my Open Scandal. There is various ways and means to get the rev counter to work.

Essentially the open scandal has a full main interior loom with everything already installed with regards to wiring to enable use of the rev counter.

There is a seperate dash loom which plugs into the main interior loom just under the glovebox side of the dash. I swapped the open scandal dash loom for the VTS one aswel, its only small so if you're going to a scrappy take the time to grab that extra loom too.

Now whereas ive also got a VTS engine loom installed to run the 16v engine thats now in there, im unsure whether the 1.0 engine loom has all the wiring in it to complete the 'rev counter function' although im pretty sure that it has.

Id grab yourself some vts clocks and the vts dash loom and simply plug it in, and it should just work without doing any messing around with other connections and finding wires etc etc.
