head gasket and cam belt

  1. #1
what mileage should this ideally be done?
  2. #2
    60k iirc
  3. #3
well cambelt will be 60k and head gasket you change when ever it goes lol
  4. #4
in the citroen handbook i got with my vtr it says cambelt needs replaced after 75-80k miles or every 10 years.
  5. #5
i deffo wouldnt do the head gasket before it goes lol
  6. #6
no point getting head gasket done if it doesn't go, you wouldn't place your rocker cover gasket if it wasnt blown would you? lol

For peace of mind id do cambelt every 35-40k or 3 years. However first change isn't usually till 60-70k

first thing i do when i buy a car is the timing belt and water pump, just to be safe lol
  8. #8
theres the old saying dont fix wat aint broke. just do belt and then gasket when / if it goes, and then skim 1mm max off your head for some more compression
  9. #9
    HG about every 10k

My garage told me that, at about 75,000. I'll won't be leaving mine that long though, i'll be doing it at about 60,000.

Have you changed the alternator belt yet? What mileage? Mine has started squeaking when the engine starts.

Did my alternator same time as the cam belt.if the squeakings the only problem try re-tensioning the alternator if not then go a new belt.
