ECU Light, Stutters pls rev needle going MWAD

   Well for the last few days my car stutters at random times and in random revs. ECU light will come on, stay on then randomly go?
   
   Also when going through the revs the needle just gos up n down how it likes with no correlation to the actual revs the car is doing. Earlier i changed gear at like 5.5k and the needle randomly went up to 7k when my limit is jus past 6k.
   
   Not heard of this one before, so any ideas before i get it plugged in?

   only car i've evr come across that did this was an old golf mk3 and it was the distributor that was goosed, not going to be the case with a saxo though lol, if i had to hazard a guess i'd start with a crank sensor
