Boosting steering closer to chest?

As we all know when you buy an aftermarket steering wheel you need a boss to attach it to the car which in turn pushes the wheel further towards you, is there anyway of doing this with your normal wheel? Washers/spacers etc?

One more thing can you adjust the height of the steering wheel, I only had a quick look bit when you remove the plastic bit which is behind your steering wheel which houses the wiper buttons and light controls etc there are bolts holding the steering (by your knees) in place. So with a bit of backyard engineering could you adjust it?

Don't mess with it mate, leave it as it is - backyard engineering could easily render it dangerous. The driving position in a Saxo is not great, not bad though but still not great. Try having anothe rfiddle with your seat or maybe stick VTR/S seats in if the standard ones are not comfy.

Would it just be easier to get an aftermarket wheel so it comes out farther as my knees catch the wheel so I can't heel and toe or left foot brake easily?

Maybe a smaller wheel would suite you better - how tall are you btw!! Aftermarket definately easier than modding exisiting stuff. You woul dhave to place a resistor (forgot ohm rating-sorry) where the airbag once went to keep the light on the dash off.
