Right i have done a search and i really cant find anything .. for the past few days my clutch has been playing up not all the time .. it has its moments... Basicly .. imagen you are in reverse and want to go into a drive that is just off a hill ... you stop apply the handbrake put it in reverse find the biteing point and off you go but i have done all this and when it comes to the point of moving i lift off the clutch slowly to move along with revs but it just wont move i could be sitting on my foot insted of it on the clutch and nothing .. and then suddenly bang off you pop .... it doesnt slip if you boot it in 1st 2nd and 3rd so says my mechanic tryed it my self and it doesnt.... after that happens .. even on a slight hill doing a hill start the biteing point is half way down then at the top then there is none untilll the car wants to move .. grrrrr it is so annoying and embarising when you are at the lights on a hill and you are going nowhere reving the shit outta it and then bang wheeeeellllll sppppiiiiinnnnnn .. people must think .... Chav.... has any one got any ideas .. new clutch??? ... big job?? can i do it on a drive with a few jacks and axle stands and my brother in laws big box of snap on goodies ???? how much ???? so confused ... just what you want from a first car

wellllll........ from what it sounds like u need a new clutch mate. i had a similar problem with my saxo and i got a new clutch fitted asap and its as smooth as a babys bum now. if u get the new clutch done at the garage it will cost about £2450. its mainly all labour.

but i dont know if it is possible to fit it on the drive way :/

just had a thought could this problem be caused by a stretched clutch cable by any chance.. because it is not slipping or anything... is it worth replacing first or not?? when on the flat pulling away is smoth and again it still does not slip and it has abuse since i made this thread :/ and it is still going strong :/

valeo clutch kit will only be about 70 - 80 for your car model

if your good with a spanner and have patience a clutch can be changed within a day very easily

exaclty how steep is this hill, try applying handbrake then on the biting point to see if it slips then, if its slipping it smells quite bad

Tryed the clutch cable?? may need adjusting

the hill quite steep but even on slight hills it happens .. i have tryed adjusting the clutch cabe at it just slipped loads and smelt really bad.. so we put it back to where it was and it stoped slipping and was a little bit better on a hill start.. this is why i am swaying towards the clutch cable.. i cant find a website that sells the valeo clutches anywhere!!! not even euro car parts sell a clutch for my car
