weird ignition problem

   ok, so the ignition as '3 stages'
   
   1st turn some electrics
   2nd turn more electrics
   3rd turn and hold to start the engine
   
   well mine goes
   
   1st turn some electrics
   2nd turn cranks the engine over and tries to start
   3rd turn and hold stalls the engine
   
   what should i be looking for?

   Sounds like the barrel wiring blocks are round the wrong way. So the second turn is powering the starter and the third turn is ignition but obviously stops the starter. When you release the third part does it turn the engine again?

   yes it does.
   
   the wiring looked slightly molestered
   
   the ignition barrel has a grey and a black block. connected to the correct colour blocks
