anyone know how bad this is???? it snapped when i did it up. can i still drive it??? need to know asap
  2. #2
I'm pretty sure you can buy a new stud if you can drill old one out
  3. #3
Nope can't drive, oil will leak everywhere.
  4. #4
is this something a garage will fix?
  5. #5
Did exactly the same to mine, i got a screw that fitted from b&q and works fine

how much of the bolt is protruding
  7. #7
its flush with the cover. does that bolt unscrew from the block?
  8. #8
    Hi,

Take off the cylinder head cover/rocker cover and get a pair of mole grips or pliers on the remainder of the stud. You should be able to get the old one off. Get a new stud and cap nut from Citroen.

See here: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=315711 for part numbers for a Mk2 Saxo.

Oil will leak from the cover if you try to drive it.

yeah just saw that after i asked. nice one mate. bnq here i come lol
  13. #13
i would be suprised if you can get one of them from b and q. its a funny one lol bigger one end ? just got mine off
  14. #14
    Hi Jake,

You won't get one at B&Q. It is M8 at the rocker end and M6 at the cover end. If you are DESPARATE, then get an M8 bolt slightly longer than the length of the stud remaining. You'll need to open the hole in the cover for the bolt to fit through but this should work. You then have a few days to get the bits you need from Citroen, but you'll need to add a new rocker cover to the shopping list.

Just get the correct Citroen parts - don't bodge it.

While you're at Citroen get a new rocker cover seal
  16. #16
ok nice one guys. i will give them a ring tomorow.

thanks alot not as buggered as i thought lol

  19. #19
go into Citroen, ask them for the part, pay for it. Arrive the following day with your invoice and pick it up. Job done
  20. #20
what was you doing to snap it by the way ??
  21. #21
i dont know where my nearest citroen garage is. a while away i think.

took rocker off to spray it, come out shit so i just stuck it back on nd over tightened it. dint take much to snap tho
  22. #22
    Hey Jake,

You'll need the cap nut too.
  23. #23
i still got mine. i managed to get the broken thread out. got the gf to hold it in a spaner whilst i got a tiny flat head screwdriver nd taped it around.
  24. #24
    Hey Jake,

    Top drawer!
  25. #25
i wont drive that mate you will need to drill the old bit out but be care wen you do and use a tap and die set to get the new threads then put new 1 on
  26. #26
its all sorted now mate. luckily the bolt snapped long enough to take it out. new one will be here tmara. and new rubber seal. back on the road by tmra night
  27. #27
    Hey Jake,

Nice one, 29p right? Just do it up with a spanner not with a socket...
  28. #28
something like that, think they said 32p inc vat. got 2 just incase. the rubber sill will only be a few quid. yeah im going to use a spanner. now i know how easy they are to snap. thanks for all the help BobC :Y:

I've not got the torque values to hand,

BUT invest in a torque wrench and tighten them upto around ? ? ? -I'm pretty sure the Haynes gives you an exact value

EDIT - 7Nm as per below
  30. #30
    Hey Ross,

That sounds much too high to me. I'll see if I can confirm it.

    Hi,

    For: TU5 JP INJECTION 90 HP OR CARBURETTOR TU1 OR CARBURETTOR TU3-2 OR INJECTION TU9M OR TU1JP INJECTION OR INJECTION TU3JP OR INJECTION TU1M+ Tighten to 0,7 ± 0,1 m.daN [7 Nm]

But I doubt you'll have a torque wrench accurate at this low a torque setting, just take it easy.

    Thanks Bob !

Been having trouble recently with a new car I've bought an people over tightening things - makes them a bugger to get back off !

    7Nm is finger tight

lol, I thought you were very knowledgeable on the rocker cover studs/nuts now I can see why
  35. #35
    Yuh, it's called "experience..."

As Oscar Wilde said: "Experience is the name every one gives to their mistakes."
  36. #36
well mines all fixed now didnt do them up to tight. they have a rubber cill on the nuts so its all good. only come to 17quid for 2 nuts and bolts and rubber thingy lol
