saxo VTS Fuel Gauge problem

  1. #1
Hey, i just got my new VTS yesterday a couple of years after leaving my VTR behind. I bought the car knowing that there was a problem with the fuel gauge. The guy said "The sensor in the fuel pump is knackered". he was a pretty honest guy, he came straight out and said it. This was a week ago, he then phoned me saying "car passed its MOT quickly, but i cant fix th fuel gauge" so hes knocked £50 off the car and given me an entirely new fuel pump. My dads fitted it for me earlier, hes experienced with his cars, but the fuel gauge STILL isnt working?

has anyone else had this problem before? could it be an electrics problem? or something easier? any advice would be helped

    Thanks
    Mike.

the gauge is working, its basically going backwards and forth a couple of times, from empty to full, then saying its empty, when theres £30s+ worth of fuel in it, so the actual dial is working, but the reading isnt.

    thanks for the reply though
