    Hey Tom,

    Front or back?

Did you use a recognised brand of bearing or was it a cheapo?

Did you install it with a press or whack it with a hammer?

    wrong bearing fitted ?

it match the driveshaft profile ?

DONT GO OFF THE REG NUMBER when buying a wheel bearing, a lot of people get the wrong ones fitted and it's destroyed within a week. check the driveshaft profile before buying a replacement bearing.

Generally the MK2 wheel bearings are for tapered shafts, and MK1 bearings for flat shafts.

BUT I've seen tapered shafts on a mk1 (for example my car) so I'd need mk2 wheel bearings on my Mk1.

MATCH THE BEARING TO THE DRIVESHAFT

All work got done with bearing press!!

    Hi,

Ok, tick and tick. Had exactly the same problem with a Renault Clio and a SKF sealed-for-life bearing but it lasted around a year before it physically disintegrated and fell apart. My guess is that it was insufficiently lubricated and failed, but I couldn't check or add grease to it as it was a sealed bearing.

Not sure how it compares to the FAG but a Citroen supplied bearing would be between £48-£60.

Citroen specify 2 bearings for the VTR:

    1) 3350 17 - TU5 JP INJECTION 90 HP AND SALOON AND NORMAL SUSPENSION UNTIL RPO No. 08093

    2) 3350 32 - TU5 JP INJECTION 90 HP AND SALOON AND NORMAL SUSPENSION SINCE RPO No. 08094; - TU5JP INJECTION 100 HP

Your RPO number is on your paint code sticker.
