Can't change gear! Clutch Cable? Gearbox?

    Hey guys,

My Car: 1.1 Citroen Saxo Desire, 1997, 48k miles.

I was just out driving @ 30mph or so, changing down from 4th to 3rd coming up to a roundabout when the gear stick just went loose and I couldn't change gear since it felt like there were no gears in there. I can't start the car now since I reckon it's stuck in gear and it stalls when I try. I've not had any problems like this before and it just happened suddenly. I had to push the car into a car park and it was making a 'clanking' noise with each rotation of the wheels. The brakes were also locked up when I had to stop the car.

Any thoughts as to what this might be? Snapped clutch cable or am I shit out of luck?

Have you checked the gear linkages have not worn away and failed? And why can't you start the car? Do you press the clutch down and no response from it?

Depends mate if i was you go to the local scrap yard and get the gear linkage bit from there and then go see a local mechanic coz if you was to buy the bit from a garage i am sure it would be a lot, but i aint 100% mate
