crash and insurance scam?

alright basically im new to this whole saxo stuff.
i was driving a 51 plate furio insured with quinn direct (£2,300 on my own, not very good but best i could get i know)
basically had the car insured for 3 days untill i could get it taxed.
got the car taxed on a friday.
put £40 petrol in it. 40 mins later BAM
some polish cunt over took me at 50mph in a 40mph zone where there are no overtaking lines due to a hazard up coming ( a crossing island ).
basically the guy started over taking me and when i see the crossing island i was like fuck this guy aint gonna make it in so i slowed down to about 20mph. then this prick with 3 passengers decides hes gonna cut in front of me an slam his brakes. my car was is a obvious write off and the back of his was just dinged ect which he has now repaired because i know where he lives and have had a look. his passengers all came out claiming sore necks blah blah blah. i think this is all a insurance scam and the lady who came to see me from quinn thinks it is aswell due to him just suddenly braking. i had a statement up and ready the next day with photo evidence ect.
i dont care about the furio because i got a new one now as quinn let me switch the policy from that car onto my new furio.
just want to know what will happen? what kind of insurance im looking at for the next year? any one wrote off a car and can tell me how much their insurance increased the following year? if any other insurance company will touch me and shit...any help would be great to be honest really
    cheers

    not to incite violence but...

id burn his house down, if he likes insurance scams, he'll thank you for it

well if your insurance company thinks its a scam wont they either be refusing liability or taking it to court? I know the you ran into the back oh his so its your fault bollocks is said alot but if you were infront to begin with then your not 2 blame. Insurance goes up saly even if its not your fault at all. Mine did till i fucked it off for a traders policy.

That bit steep insurance! I 19 driving a VTR for bout £80 p/month with Quinn.

I used to work as an insurance broker, and THB m8 that crash is going to sit on your insurance for the next 5 years, regardless of fault, which sucks i no. doesnt seem right, you may see an increase in premium, things t put it down include putting someone with a good driving history, maybe your dad or mum.

Just dont admit liability, if he cut in front of you then slammed his brakes on, then he shouldnt have been overtaking you, and if you were slowing down, it looks like you were trying your best to prevent the crash.

its twats like him that put our premiums up. has he even got any insurance do you know?

Be surprized it happens quite a lot. There was a piece on Panorama about it. I think someone tried it on me once, they overtook me and pulled infront, luckily when people pull infront of me I always give them plenty of space.

Some polish people are ok but most piss me off with tricks like this.

I was with quinn and had 3 accidents, my insurance didnt change at all basically i paid £1200 for my 106 and it would have been like £1000 the next year but i still paid £1200 if you get what i mean?
  9. #9
alright guys thanks for all the comments nice to see people trying to help...
    would never ever admit liability.
the guy when he got out of his car showed no expression nothing like he didnt care what happend. i was probably inches away from killing him.
  10. #10
and yeah he has got insurance.
i gave all my statement and evidence an every thing the following day to the accident. that was 18th march. when i ring the lady dealing with my case from quinn she just says shes still waiting on other parties statement and evidence and shit. surely they cant give a statement 3 months later how can they remember any thing?

Wouldn't be surprised! So many claims on Saxos these days.

Had it before too, idiot overtaking and slamming on the brakes. Obvious bastard was obvious, he braced himself for impact while slamming on the brakes.

I was lucky (and quick enough) to brake and shift down to second, and then overtake the bastard instantly. Was in front again, and made it clear that he might eat my fist if trying to pull that shit on me again. The abs part of my brakes saved my day..

Unless your 17 and driving a vts, theres gonna be a better quote out ther aside from quinn if they quote you 4000, quinn are shit, i no im insured with them, but ive never come across such a bunch of idiots at an insurance company, so if you want anything done, keep pestering them unless it will never happen
  16. #16
    lol
will any other company touch me tho because i got this claim going through?
it aint till next year my insurance but just want to know if it worth putting the money away now in case its a shocker
  17. #17
i would recommend to go on a comparison website, then go directly to the top couple of companys, i never sure on the comparison websites, as soon as you take up a policy through one of them, you will get endless crap trying to sell you other policies, plus they assume to much to trust them.

Put one of your parents on the policy, should help, aslong as they been driving for a while with no convictions or claims. Make sure your miles per year is not more than you would do as well

Like other have said, if you look around enough you will find a good deal, there is always insurance brokers as well as comparison websites, they are good to use.

    Good luck m8

its bad luck for you dude sorry to hear about that. i once was driving about when i used to have my sri corsa and a car full of asians come past me and slammed on at a junction on a roundabout even though it was clear to go. i knew he was going to slam on when he come past me, so i was ready for them i slowed down in time but touched his bumper slightly and stared at them all in car because they were expecting whipcash. all the claims and scams piss me offfffff

i know mate its really harsh attackin me on my first day driving on my own.
was shocked to be honest and he was straight away on the phone to the police and asking me if i had insurance...blatent insurance scam in my eyes.
all his passengers statements that the police took were all different so now im being told he doesnt want police statements to be included but quinn are trying to get ahold of them.
  21. #21
This happened to my friend in his van. someone over took him and slammed on their brakes but they also disconnected the brake light switch to. When they stopped they the driver got out of his car with his details written down.
  22. #22
    yeah!
the guy tried offering me a bit of paper init.
    what a dick fuckin idiot
  23. #23
With or without a crash you can get insurance cheaper than that. Try elephant.co.uk or admiral. Play around with your excess have parents as named drivers, usually lowers it a lot.

As for insurance scammers.... if you know where they live... wtf are you doing on here, retribution ftw!
  24. #24
    i know where he lives...
    his cars fixed now...

sorry to hear about your mate..
ive got a new car and that so not really a problem just went out and got another saxo...
just want to know how much im looking for my insurance to raise..
  33. #33
Sorry to hear what happened. This is what your insurance company will do:

First of all they will investigate you and make sure the claim is genuine. Having just incepted the policy and having an accident which resulted in personal injury throws up many fraud indicators. Secondly, they will probably have to deal with the claim on the best possible terms without poof that the third party deliberately caused the accident. If however, the other people/driver have been linked to other similar scams, your insurance company will refuse to deal. Either way, it doesn't look promising and proving that it is a scam is very difficult. As for your insurance increase, its difficult to say but if your a young driver it'll almost double as a general rule of thumb.

unlucky geez, problem has gone up since this kinda scam getting more popular, while we get screwed for insurance people will use this scam as a quick earner...bastards hope you sort it mate.
