Vtr Turbo

  1. #1
Hi guys havent been on in a while due to sellin my old saxo now got a mk2 VTr

Happy with it but need to go turbo!!!

Been offered a cheap turbo kit fitted but its only runnin 6psi, which will be running on my standard internals was just wondering if anyone new wat kinda bhp figures that would be looking around?
Also would it really be worth it for 6psi??

If i got a decomp plate what kinda boost could i run then, looked through a few threads but theyve all been bombarded wth loads of stuff and i couldnt really find anything i was lookin for!

Setup wud be runnin a 5th injector not a pred ecu or nothing fancy

    Any tips hints welcome cheers

Too many variable to state an expected power figure from the info provided tbh.

Tbh i dont really no much about it, some guy had it on his vtr and is getting rid of it! aparently will smoke vts's and civic type r's
So you gotta be looking round the 130bhp 140bhp's??
What about the decomp plate?? does that allow you to run more boost?

Yeah, it lowers the compression ratio of the engine allowing more air/fuel mixture to engine the cylinder. It is the cheaper alternative to installing low-compression pistons.

I think you really would need to be using a decompression plate anyway mate, not sure what boost pressure you could use but I would've thought the 6psi would being using a de-comp plate anyway.

    Thats a load of crap.

Your mate just didnt do something properly.

That's most likely cause he's done a shit turbo build?

There's a few people on here running decent 8v turbo set ups, so why would they be doing it if it wasn't a very 'gutsy' engine? They still produce good
power and torque figures an drive great and are just as reliable as any other engine running turbo conversion providing it's done properly and not Vosges like the one your mate has probs done, hence why it didn't last long
