cat/midpipe section springs: rattling and squeaking

   I had my catalytic converter changed a couple of weeks ago. The cheapass idiot (who charged me £45 for labour btw) in the garage didn't bother changing the ring between the cat and intermediate pipe. So I had to come back as it was blowing.
   
   Ring changed, but now the cat/midpipe section is squeaking and rattling as f"**, even when it's warm.
   
   So my question is: are the two springs down there too loose or too tight? I am asking since I don't want to start fiddling around.. Cheers all

   i would say too loose as the noise is probly coming from the pipes moveing slightly where it isn't tight enough. cant be sure though untill you try it i guess.
