steering is really stiff

   Hi Peeps,
   
   Not sure whats up because one minute the power steering was mint, the next its now as hard as rock to turn the wheel.
   
   Not sure whether the pipes are seizing up? or getting too hot? fluid level seems normal so really not sure, maybe a block in the pipe?
   
   Any help would be great.

   When my engine starts to heat up, the steering gets really tight. I thought that was normal.

   mine has same problem it is rock hard cant hardly turn mission driving it

   hearing any noises coming from the pump? have you tried tapping it?

   There was a constant whistling noise coming from the steering which was on and off before the steering got really tight, now there is no noise just a really tight wheel
   
   Ill give it a go tapping it with a hammer and see what happens

   Cant beat non-power steering! Get rid of the pump and put a non ps rack on

   Gave it a tap... seems to have turned the pump back on, slight whistling noise has come back which is intermittent (which is a good thing because now the steering has freed up)
   
   Many Thanks all - will send it to my mechanic to get a new pump.
