   If I install a second hand ignition barrel and use the key for that ignition will it work in my car? I know I can change the key blade in my transponder and my logic presumes that the new key and barrell will work to start the car?
   
   it's for a 98 plate VTS

   You need to get the transponder chip from your old key and put it in the secondhand one.

   on mine i had i new ignition barrel and i use the key from the other car it came from and it was just a plug in play thing, i had no problems with it

   Will it have to be from a 106 GTI or a VTS or can I get one from a 1.1, furio, VTR etc? My car is a 98 plate VTS.
