loosing water..

   hi all, i have a 1.1 forte single point injection engine, just recently i have noticed my water level has dropped, the engine is bone dry no oil/water leaks anywere, my oil level seems to be the same, but my water is crappy and bit oily any ideas please

   i got the same problem m8 on my 98 s reg apart from my water level would drop very quickly and then as a result of over heating oil would burn quickly, i have been having to full up with coolant and oil every time i fill up with petrol! i posted a thread a couple days ago on here bout the problem, people suggested it was the head gaskit on its way out and various other problems, but as long as there is no white gunk under ur oil filler cap and no sign of other head gaskit related things its fine, and just a result of an old car ????

   if i was you i'd run the car up,get the engine up to temp and look for any steam coming from the radiator(small stone chips)
   
   it could be that the car only looses water when the engines hot threw a tiny hole,an it would be hot and under pressure so it would come out a steam and dry up almost instant
