    Hi guys first post here!!

Ok i brought a saxo vtr and after a month or two took it to the garage and had to have 2 new front tyres on it beacuse they were worne that bad the metal had come throught on the inside so i got them changed in kiwik fit and 2 new ones on with tracking done..

2 months later they are worn again!! failed mot beacuse of it

i mean 2 months to waer down took them back to kwik fit and they swapped them for a new set beacuse i refused to leave he told me the traking was 1 mm out !

what do you think the problem is and do you think it will happen again.

    thanks ian

Alot of garages are full of shit when it comes to tracking. They'll tell you its out even if its not, you'll pay them, then they'll give you your car back just as it was.

Sounds like tracking is definately out though. Perhaps they had one of their dumbass college kids do it and he didn't do it right?

Or, perhaps you hit a very small pot hole on your way home from the garage. Speedbumps, potholes etc can all knock your tracking out very easily.

If i was you i'd find a garage that you can trust and ask them to check the tracking, should only cost you about £12.50.

Are your alloys standard? How do you drive? What tyres have you got on?

Ye I will do mate, I drive fast but I don't redline it everywere.
Tyres wernt the best can't remember which.

The ones on now should of cost £130.

Can tyres just wear out in 2 months?

    Thanks

it sounds like its running negitive camber, tyres can wear out in 2months but they would have to be a soft tyre and you would have to drive it hard around corners, all depends on milage etc. i wore a set of prada spec 2's out on my ibiza in a month and there 103£ each.

it does sound like its running negative camber, don't know what would cause this on a standard saxo tho? sounds a bit more sinister than just the tracking as if it was just the tracking it would wear one of the front tyres out, not both

as said above inside could be your cars lowered and running to much camber for normal road driving. You would never pick up on it in a basic tracking test.

    Is it lowered?

Is the wear smooth, rough, smooth in ine direction and rough in the other?... Do you go over a lot of speed bumps...

Could be tracking, could be camber. Lowered? Also have the lower arms / bushes checked. That would eat tyres...

if the camber is negative and its on standard springs i would say there are bushes that need replaced somewhere, bottom arms probably.

although, the tracking may not have been checked to be fair, because of the position of the track rod ends up inside the wing, and the fact they're normally seized like a b*stard on saxos and 106s, alot of garages just f*ck it off cause of the hassle and clean the nuts up with a wire brush.

I agree that they are a pain to do, but as i own a saxo i will do it for other people that own one...and now i dont really find it that bad lol...

If they are siezed, wheel off, get to them through the arch, wheel back on, drive it, let it set and track up again. I hate seeing people getting ripped off or just bitching about the place i work at ahahaha!
