Changing lower gearbox mount

  1. #1
How difficult is it to do? I thought there was a guide somewhere but have now given up searching.

Can someone give a quick guide to save me going to the garage and spending £'s

    Cheers

is it the mount or bush you want to change? the mount is easy to take off only 3 bolts, may need to remove your manifold though makes it a lot easier

Removing manifold will give better access as above but as you sound like your a little unsure with the hands on bit it can be done with exhaust left alone.

Get car raised and USE AXLE STANDS to make it safe. Locate the mount and undo the 3 or 4 nuts n bolts that hold it on (take a note/photo on your mobile of how it fits). The old bush can be pushed out with a bit of wood and a hammer or you can butcher it with an old screw driver or similar and push it out by hand.

New bush is in 2 halves with a stainless insert. Fit it using the copper grease provided. Refit mount to car. Make sure you don't fit it upside down - it is easy to do in error.

Enjoy the feeling of the engine not wanting to jump out of the bay every time you let off and re apply throttle. Totally worth it and don't worry the vibrations die down a lot after a few weeks.

Wicked thanks. Will borrow some stands from a neighbour. Cheers again.
