Saxo Standard CD Player

    Hi Everyone,

Just got my first car last weekend, Saxo 1.1 Desire (2002). It's got the standard CD player (which I plan to upgrade eventually). It's ok for the time being but it gives me so much grief trying to play a CD. All the CDs I've tried are legit albums, no MP3 discs or anything. I turn the ignition so that the electrics are on and the CD plays fine, I turn on the engine and the CD goes off. The HU's screen shows something like this 'T01 --/--'. So what I have to do is sit in my car for like 10 mins taking the CD in and out of the HU, eventually it'll work. It's such a pain in the ass, is there something I don't know? Or is there something wrong with the unit? Like I said, it's only gonna be there a couple months but I hate driving without music.

Another thing is the f***ing traffic updates, every morning on the way to work my CD will cut out because of them. Then I can't get the CD to work again.

Hope I've made myself clear enough, would appreciate any help.

By the way, here's a pic of my car...all standard, nothing seems to have been done with it at all.

Theres a button to turn traffic updates off (should say in HU manul). Also, it should play "official genuine" CDs with no problem but not the same can be said about copied CDs. If your having problems reading genuine CDs then you might have to get the laser realigned.

Ahh, thanks. I'll have a look at the traffic updates thing.

Thing is, once the cd is playing it works perfectly. It's just getting it to start when the engine is running that's the problem.

Makes me wonder why they don't just put in a sodding PLAY button on a car stereo! lol
I can't stand listening to the radio, too many adverts and chart music...yuk.

I have this exact same problem mate. When I did some research on it, it just seemed to be due to the age and quality of the player itself. I just ended up changing it!
