Is my ECU fkd?

    Well, alsorts of problems really.

    * High idle at about 4.5k and it pulls itelf up to that even in 5th like throttle is stuck open
    * Hit its own imaginary limit at alsorts of revs.
    * Cuts out randomly.
    * Going over bumper bits of road it cuts out.
    * It dosent start when its cold for ages, and putting the clutch it makes it cut out.
    * Runs really lumpy.
    * When driving along the rev needle randomly moves all over the place, up to 8k sometimes.
    * Sometimes dosent even crank over when i try to start it.
    * Oil light randomly comes on when theres plenty of oil in the engine.
    * ECU is on, sometimes randomly goes off and sometimes flickers.
    * The engine bay is covered with oil everywhere

    My old saxo died on 129k
    This engines on 129k

    Both cars ran fine up until this milage.

    Is it safe to say 16v conversion is essential now?

    Sounds wiring orientated maybe ?

    It'd be wierd for the Ecu to just shag itself randomly at 129k

    I think its got to be wiring really. Well the ECU could go at any time just coincedence the same miles as my old car lol

    I dont know if its worth fixing up

    Do you know of any of them home ECU error code readers you can get off ebay? But then where do i look for the error codes to know whats what?

    I don't know about the home brew code readers tbh - I know of a few people who havn't had much luck with them but don't know what one they've bought.

    I'd either get a Citroen diagnostics done, or just cut your losses if you can't see what could be wrong and go 16v

    timebomb ecu by citroen so you have to go back to them. sounds strange

    fuck that at 129k. just stick a 16v in there. your car seems ok. just the engine. when i get bored of mine or if it fuks up im stickin 16v in there.

    blessing in disguise

    Wierd one update here.

    It cuts out and ECU flashes when i move the gearstick to the right which also explains why it does it alot in 5th.

    Sounds like its pulled a wire off or its pulling on one Will have to get under n check it tout

    16v it ftw! I did it when my 1.4 engine got rough it would over heat and run like a bag but now its got a decent 16v lump running sweet as a nut under the lid.

    but as said get it on the machine it should pick the fault up
