#2oh please, not again.
-
#3start with the basics first....
Weight - Chuck everything out to make it lighter!
Breather - Get a better exhaust (maybe decat) and also induction kit
Servicing - Give it a good service, new oil, oil filter, plugs and fuel filter!
Suspention - lower it, and also put stiffer dampers and a strut brace on.
then if you want to start spending some money.... ive camm'd my 1.1 saxo.... getting it remaped soon aswell
-
#4Can a mod make it compulsory to look at the stickies before any other thread or starting one ??? this question is asked on a daily basis !!!

next question please, and don't ask about tuning a 1.1. -
#7a lot of 1.1 owners must have been beaten in a street races lately...
-
#8haha.. i had a 1.1 106 try and race me yesterday... after me caining him by a masive distance at 2 sets of lights he stayed in the left hand lane and left me alone.. he knew his place pahaha
-
#9lol normally i wouldn't say anything like that on a public forum but yes now and again they do need to be put in their place, to leave you alone
-
#10well i know but to be honest all these people who race there mates civic on there "private roads" it's all bullplop lol... he just kept getting right up my arse with his giant 4 inch japcan roaring and then slamming on his breaks at the last minute, after that happening twice i'd had enough.. so foot down through 3rd and 4th and bye bye 1.1
-
#11lol i dont blame you mate, id do the sameQuote:well i know but to be honest all these people who race there mates civic on there "private roads" it's all bullplop lol... he just kept getting right up my arse with his giant 4 inch japcan roaring and then slamming on his breaks at the last minute, after that happening twice i'd had enough.. so foot down through 3rd and 4th and bye bye 1.1

#12yeah I get what you mean but we all have to start somewhere and I think a saxo 1.1 or 106 1.1 is a good place to start and if people start with something thats slow and you get beat by your mate in his corsa 1.2 sxi you just want to beat him no matter how old you are or what it is your modding. most people all over the forum will just say save your money for a vtr or vts and I agree but if you want to beat your mate in his 1.2 corsa then go all out it your decision only listen to the people that actually tell you how to make it quicker not tell you to save money.
-
#13yea a 1.1 is a good place to start, its a very good place to start i dont want people who have just passed their test in a vtr/s and then you do what most people do build your ncb up and then get a better car i had a 1.3 59bhp fiesta for over a year and then a 1.4 16v astra for a while then finally got my first 1.6 (xr2i) and then got my vtr and then did the engine conversion there is nothing wrong with having a slow car when your young just be happy having freedom, all i did to my first fiesta was put some zetec s bumpers and wheels on it and i was more than happy with it lol
-
#14lets be honest mate a 1.1 is never going to be fast unless you spend big money, and big money is better spent on a bigger car...
Your never gunna get enough power with cheap mods to beat your mates 1.2 sxi unless you go turbo etc..
My best advice to you is if you REALLY want more speed then just strip it as much as you can do a basic air filter and decat and that will make it a bit quicker
Just don't be that kid who try's to race something like an evo in the 1.1
EDIT: also i know exactly how you feel mate !! when i had my furio my mate had a 1.8 90bhp golf driver and i could keep up with him to about 55 but after that he was gone, it is frustrating but if you keep trying to get that little bit more speed you'll end up wrapping it round a tree -
#15Do what I did, drop an R engine in, instant 40hp, place no messing about trying to fit it
-
#16just put another 8v furio or vtr engine in there. looks almost identical to the 1.1 engine. a fairly obvious difference between your engine and one of them though would be the engine code. which can kind of fcuk you up a bit if your caught but i'd say its unlikely. i know plenty of people who have blown there engines, put in one from the same car and havent bothered to change the engine code with the dvla/insurance
-
#17or do something different, but it on bike carbs lol.

#18what bhp isit running mate??Quote:start with the basics first....

take it you like being the under dog? haha -
#19Aint sure to be honest, seems nippy... the head gasket went, so while i was doing all that, it only cost £90 to get the cam shaft reprofiled so i thought i may aswell. the idle is really lumpy now though, so forced to get remap! i will get it on a rolling road soon. im curious myself lol.

#20ye would be good to know
-
#21Could oif swore this same thread was posted 2 days ago lol.
-
#22it was lol by the same person !!

#23

#25ye I know what you all mean dont tune a 1.1 its pointless ive learnt this already but theres still lots of people who need to learn this. if you want to waste some money go invest a grand into ripspeed halfrauds stuff they say on the packet that a cone filter will give you 15 bhp lol
get some viper stipes too theyll give you 14 bhp -
#26less weight - better acceleration. Take out anything "unnecessary"
Everyone says it but don't spend £££'s modding a 1.1 to try to make it go a tiny bit faster as it just isn't cost effective. Bigger engine is best value for your money whether you do a conversion or buy another car with it already fitted.
If your really wanting a bit more speed on the cheap than get a vtr backbox and decat it with an induction kit with a good cold air feed. I did this on my old 1.1 and it did make it "nippier" along with a stripped interior. -
#27Its easy to say save money etc etc... but lets be honest, we have all been there were we wanted to spend money on our first car, and always wanted that extra bhp, me being one of them. Then theres insurance to take into account. To be honest mate, speaking from experience, it was a waste of money on the 1.1, but however much we say that you will still go ahead and do it, so you might aswell enjoy it.
As in previous comments, simple stuff, strip it, de-cat it, air filter etc etc...
gd luck

#28I agree with everything this guy says lol you want to have the fastest car out of all your mates.Quote:Its easy to say save money etc etc... but lets be honest, we have all been there were we wanted to spend money on our first car, and always wanted that extra bhp, me being one of them.
