neighbour was grass cutting and a stone flew up and smashed glass

any ideas on what to do to next? either new door or window or what ever?

Go to a scrappy and get a new window.

New window, shouldnt be too much from scrappy, if your neighbour is good with cars get him to fit it and pay if not just get him to pay and you can fit it......

its just wasnt sure if it was just the glass you replace or a door because of the electronics, been offered the window off a 106, would this do

he was a bit reluctant because it basicly "wasnt his fault" and was trying to ring his mate for help

well clearly its his lawn mower's fault, which he owns, so technicaly it is, haha. 106 windows should fit fine mate. the window only rests along the bar just held firmly in place by the grooves.

sooo to fit it, basicly door card off, rest it back on the bar and put the card back on?

nooo, its not that simple, behind the door cards is metal and reinforcment bars, havent much of a clue how to fit them tbh, i guess you need to wind the window all the way to the top and slot it in is possible.

also along back edge of glass and clipped in the rear runner is a locating clip that stops the window falling forward when going up or down
if you know what you are doing mechanically its a firly simple task
if you know nothing about cars find some that does

to remove window is pretty easy

doorcard off by the two torx screws one in handle and one in top corner where its hidden by dash, then unclip off

    peel back the foam film

depending how bad the the glass has smashed then it will help if you wind window down

square plastic nut at the middle of the windwo at the bottom, turn it and remove it

bottom near the speaker, sometimes the guide has a screw in, remove it makes it easier to slot the window in and out

again if its not badly smashed push the window towards the front of the car, push forwards and down, there will be a guide clipped into the glass, best to get a new one sometimes if it wont clip into new window

think thats about it, fitting is reversal of removing and as alsways with smashed glass wear some appropiate gloves and goggles

This has happened to the daughters car. Will it be a case of lowering the window, door panel off and refit/replace the clip.
