   I'm trying to remove the ignition barrel but the two retaining lugs are fouling the igntion barrel case. The haynes manual says use a small flat bladed screw driver to depress them when the key is between A and S but they aren't going in enough for the barrel to come out!!! Does anyone know what I can do?

   im very sure there is a screw holding it in too

   Yes there is and I removed that one, it's the retaining lugs that aren't depressing! I'm just going to use a power tool to remove it.

   you have to turn ignition on to first point in order for the 2 lugs to be pushed in

   I thought so, the haynes manual says between the start point and the 1st point which are labelled A and S, but because the ignition barrel is screwed I cant get the key this far! Will take a hammer and drill to it
