wipers and m.o.t

hi can anyone clear this up for me, ive been told by some people that the car must have a minimum of two wipers to pass an mot but how does this work if you have a de-wiper boot and want to put a single conversion on your windscreen? i have asked lots of people and ive had pretty mixed answers!, also ,i read that its illegal to take the side repeaters of a car but ive never had a problem with this, this passes an m.ot? or do they just have to have indicators on the side either from repeaters or on the mirrors?

I've read people have passed with one wiper
I've dewipered- It's as long as the part has been fully removed- i've also taken out my 3rd brake light and don't think i'd fail because it "isn't there in the first place"

ALso you do need side repeaters in the UK, places like america you don't i beilive

as pepper said I'm pretty sure it's alright as long as the front wiper clears the whole screen and not just where the drivers side one did when there were two.

my mates euro corsa c has no wipers at all and passes mot every year

you don't need a minimum number of wipers

for side repeaters its a kind of grey area with moters, by the laws you need them but again my mates corsa c has none and none on mirrors and my old fiesta had them smoothed aswell and passed mot everytime

I'm sure that many places would let you off having no side repeaters but (as I know from working in a garage that did MOT's) a car can fail it's mot even if it has both front wipers that don't work very well - so having none at all should definately fail an MOT.

not really, its like you don't need a windscreen to pass mot but when ones fitted it needs to be free from cracks/chips, spare wheels aswell, if no spare wheel it doesn't fail but if there is a spare wheel tyre needs to be legal tread, no wipers can't fail on it but if there are wipers they need to work and the blades be in good condition

If that's the case then fair enough. Still think that u'd be lucky to get away with it either way, and they're ultimately the ppl saying whether u can drive or not lol. Depends if u get an arse or not

if you hav a wiper linkage fitted t the car you must be able to clear the screan without linkage there are no restritions and it can stop anywhere on screen also you do need side repeaters either side or wingmirrors
