Fiesta Zetec (with s bottom end)

   Is my car unwell?
   
   its just me and my brothers friend decided we were 8 again, dropped into 3rd and belted past a van
   
   hes got a Zetec with a Zetec-S bottom end and im pretty sure his engine was rebuilt by his dad (rally driver, no one famous though), hes also got a rally exhaust on it too
   
   Ive got a VTR with a K&N on it
   
   thing is, he stuck to my arse up to 70, didnt really wanna go over 70 in a residential tbh (YES I KNOW IM A TWAT FOR EVEN GOING THAT FAST SO NO POSTS SAYING SO)
   
   My bro said they got 110 with 3 people in it aswell

   i've owned both. They were pretty similar performance wise. The exhaust may have helped it along abit but i doubt it. What do you mean by he's got a zetec?
   
   Is it the 1.6 zetec s? the zetec engine came in various forms from 1.25 all the way up to 2.0+.

   In my brothers words "its a 1.25 zetec with Zetec S bottom end" but at first it was "1.25 zetec with Zetec-S parts ordered from ford and put in"
   
   as i said, his dads a rally driver and spends his days messing with his rides
   
   wouldnt suprise me if its zetec-s parts thrown into a standard zetec tbh
   
   i havent got a clue to be honest

   If its got a Zetec-s bottom end then its a 1.6.
   Zetec-S has much the same performance as a Vtr, so yes he should keep up with you.

   Weight, gearbox, driver? Unless you were both side by side n did a drag type race then how do u kno u both started accelarating at the same time to get past this van, he mighta started just before you realised or somthin!
   
   From my expereince the Fiesta Zetec S was very marginally slower than my old westcoast with vts box.

   I wouldn't say a zetec S was a quick car - he's prob just had a zetec s engine fitted.

   weight wise, im a fair bit heavier than him, plus ive got damn sub in the boot, box says 20kg :/

   he might have the 1.25 gearbox fitted still. Something we used to do to ours when we put 1.7 puma engine's in. Top end they lack a bit but up to 60 it's very nippy.

    Yah, seen a few on here with VTR/VTS engine and retaining a 1.1 box

    The rally so called system would maybe be good for rally car. Just because he an ex rally driver he knows everything.

    He basiclly got the 1.6 zs engine as the zetec engine is the same block just different bore size, they are about 100 to 110 standard. The fez wieght abit more than a vtr. So be able the same.
