My local garage, who my family have used for years, just quoted me £76 labour price to fix my leaky cv boot, does this sound about right? its the inside boot, so apparently have to take some parts off.
£76 cv boot

#1
-
#2i got charged around £50 from a normal garage for the outer so im thinking that price is about right.
-
#3I had both front outer CV boots done for £35, the actual kit itself is only a few quid
-
#4Yeah a cv boot kit is about 8 quid from citroen.
-
#5but what about labour costs?
-
#6I should imagine it would only take about an hour mate.
-
#7mate got too new driveshafts with 3 years warrenty for 80 for like said though its not that expensive normally
-
#8£15 for my offside one to be sorted
-
#9but this is the inside boot.
so the driveshaft needs to come off.
and then the gearbox oil will need to be topped up for what is lost which can a bit of a pig.
thats not such a bad quote for the work fella.
ALLTHOUGH
if its something an mot inspector has picked up on then they cannot fail you on the inner boot being split as the grease it will leak cannot contaminate anything saftey critical.
the outer can though(brakes)
but i would still recomend having it done

#10are you not able to do it yourself?as you could simply buy a new driveshaft for that price and just do it yourself its pretty easy to do and i would say it would take around a hour to do if that cause all they are doing is one side then the outer cv boot might fuck up then your having to pay extra to sort that out then
-
#11People are getting ever so confused here..
CV boot is piss easy repair
Inner CV boot is a complete ball ache to do!
Would recommened for the price unless it is an OE shaft currently fitted to just buy a reconned one or a used one off here. -
#12inner cv boot yeh,

and no i have no clue what to do to fix it.
well it needs fixing, no point letting it leak for my driveshaft and fuck knws what else to go wrong eh. -
#13Buy a second hand shaft for about 30 quid..
-
#14got some second hand shafts here??£25 posted pm me asap mate
-
#15ask your local garage how much for a complete drive shaft doing mate could save you ££'s in the long run
