   Every 10 or so attempts to start my VTS my car actually starts, hits the normal 850 revs but then slowly dies, takes about 2-3 seconds for the revs to drop to 0 then it cuts out. I then try and start it again it does the same pretty much but cuts out a bit quicker. Then on the 3rd start it goes back to normal and will start fine for the next 10 attempts!!!
   
   The car has new spark plugs, swapped coil over from another car, changed starter motor, all other simple checks have been done e.g. battery etc.
   
   Does anyone know what it might be?

   tried fuel and oil filters ?, also you stated new spark plugs ... new leads ??? gd luck

   i'd be tempted to look at the fuel side of things it may be loosing fuel pressure.
   
   does the car prime when you put the ignition on?
   
   if so turn it on and off 4 or 5times before you try and start the car if it cures it then its more than likely a fuel pump issue.

   Hmm the car has also started to miss a little, only very occasionally, maybe once of twice in a 10-15 minute drive, at different levels of revs.... the car actually cut out before I got home then I couldn't restart it for about 5 mins, kept turning it over until it eventually fired, about 10 attempts!
