1.0 engine conversion

  1. #1
    Hey guys,
i'm considering doing a engine conversion for my 1.0 scandal and putting in a 1.4. Only thing is i dont realy no much about engine conversions. Can you tell me what parts i am going to need to get the engine runnin properly and some rough prices.

obviously i am not going to perform the conversion, just want to know how much the parts are going to cost me before i get a quote to get it done.

    Cheers

Basicly you will need an engine from the same year of ur car so if ur car is 1999 u need a 1.4 engine from a 1999 single plug vice versa. Then you will need the engine, gearbox, engine mounts, loom, Unlocked ECU and at ur disposal a rev counter in ur cocpit..

Thats basicly it.. it droppes strat in and plugs strate in.. easy just need the tools

need a new mount welding in afaik as the 1.0 and 1.1's have different mounts

other than that, as has been said! might be worth getting better brakes and suchlike though, i wouldn't want to try and stop my vtr on the mango's brakes!

lulz yea i had gti suspention and breaks on my 1.1 but the 1.0 can be fitted the same. I needed
    Gti anti role bar
gti struts calipers breaks and so on
    gti rear axle
    gti handbreak cables
    gti rear break lines
    gti wish bones
    and maybe gti drop links

and then it will handle like fuck if u brace it up aswell

Dnt forget u will need vtr or gti drive shafts to accomidate your new gti hubs cuz it will be 4 stud so u can put some 4 stud alloys aka vts rims be warned tho the gti rear axle is slitley larger than the 1.0 ones so u will need 165 65 r15 on the back cuz it will rub ur arches

I kno all this cuz i did it onmy 1.1i
