Basically
106 GTi down 60mm will a lower brace catch on most things?

Gay. Cba changing springs then raising the back just for a brace

IMO. If you want it to handle well, i.e. the brace. Then don't go less than 30mm.
If you want the slammed look then forget about going around corners quick.
Lower is not always better for handling.

I bought it already lowered 60mm on Spax PSX and I much prefer the handling on my Saxo which is down 40mm on the exact same kit

I like to call it, the placebo effect.
Any lower than 30mm on a saxo and you're fucking up the whole geometry of the front suspension. Camber is out, your drop links are strained to fuck and your wishbones don't know what the hell is going on.

Decisions decisions
I hate suspension. So many different factors to take into account to get the perfect setup. Give me a HG anyday lol
