Lacking Power

   Got in my vtr the other day and went out for a bit with ' stissy ' and on a other occassion with ' mandyslover ' and i apolgize if this thread has been up loads of times but my vtr just doesnt feel right i dont know how to explain it like when i put my foot down instead of the quick zoom off when you drop it down, it like takes a couple of seconds to kick in then sometimes ill be driving and it just not pull properly at all .. if anyone has had this problem before i will appreicate any replies

   Is the problem constant or pretty random? throughout the rev range or not?

   could it be the coil packs ?

   if its just been fully serviced last year then try the coilpack. Im having an extremely similar problem to you too.

   If it has been a year since the last service, give it another one making sure to replace the spark plugs as well. Also, give the idle air control valve a thorough clean with a rag dipped in petrol, to clean out any gunk. That usually helps with problems relating to acceleration.
   
   If it still does it, replace your lambda sensor as it could be running too lean/rich.

   its had relativly new platinum sparks plugs tho ? but i appreciate the replies and i will try cleaning the idle control valve because also when i turn my car on it like fights to stay running if you know what i mean until i give it some then its ok ..

    Be careful when you do clean it, best way is to remove it completely and forget carb cleaner, a rag soaked in petrol does a far better job. Let us know how you get on, tbh I think it is most probably the ICV anyway.

    my old vtr had a similar problem then a month later my fuel pump packed in and it never done it since. might be worth trying another fuel pump too? can get them quite cheap 15quid ish

    lack of performance is nothing to do with the amount of oil the old gals burning then gibbo lol, get that engine bought you tight-wad

    ye .. probaly wont get a s engine but it looks nace
    and if i did get it everyone best watch out !!!! haha
