Exhaust differences

sorry i have had a little look though the pages but with no luck.

Friend of mine has a 2000 mk2 VTR and he needs a new exhaust system.
ive read alot about vertical and horizontal cats and all sorts but i cant really get a definitive answer on what is needed. would like to be in the know a bit more before getting a second hand one/ordering online.

coming from the clio world i know the flange angles vary from model to model so want to avoid any errors.

am looking to get a 304 steel cat back system.

    thanks alot

bascilly dude, if its a mk2 vtr they should all be the same and the cat is in the manifold iirc so you wont need a cat back. You should be very easilly be able to find a hole std exhaust system very cheap.

theres only two differences in saxo exhausts all mk1's and early mk2's had the cat in the center pipe and the more powerful 98bhp mk2 vtr engine has the cat in the manifold

    so mk1's have manifold-cat-center pipe-back box
mk2's have cat in manifold-center pipe- back box

so mk2 center sections are slightly longer as there isnt a cat to take in to consideration, so if you fitted an aftermarket exhasut designed for a 98bhp engine and fitted it to the 90bhp engine then it would de cat it, get me?
