My saxo is sometimes a right bastard to start but once going there doesn't seem to be a problem, besides high revs at times (already changed the ICV). When I turn on the ignition I can hear the fuel pump priming. Does this mean the fuel pump is okay or could it prime and still be fcuked? Defo not the battery. Cheers.
Fuel pump?

#3The pump is running but that does no mean it is providing the right pressure and sufficient flow. I would be looking at more obvious things first like worn out plugs, partially blocked fuel filter, clogged air filter and failing crankshaft position sensor (cars are hard to start when these go on the blink I have read - it is mounted to front of gearbox bel housing and has a black wire runnigto it).
A diagnostic might throw up some stored fsults with readings from this sensor? -
#4Cheers for the reply. Changed the plugs air and fuel filter last month so will look at the crankshaft position sensor. I thought diagnostics will only pick up a fault if the warning light is on?

#5I am not sure if a fault will be logged and not turn on the light to be honest mate (hence ? mark above). Sorry. Try pricing one up or maybe first just take your out and inspect it, if it covered in crap then it might be interfering with "seeing" the notches on the flywheel perhaps. (the sensor is magnetic by the way).
Good luck getting it sorted matey -
#6Cheers mate. Just got to find the bloody thing now! Haynes manual out!
