Saxo VTS Catback

  1. #1
    Hello All

I'm wanting to get a cat back for my 2k reg vts, I heard alot of people rating Magnex, but also read that they're out of business now, is that still the case?

If so and the Magnex is hard to get hold of, can anyone recommend an alternative and rough estimations on price?

    Many thanks

Also another quick question, I've read in a couple of threads that the engine design changed on the mk 2's compared to the mk 1's.

What is the difference and should I be looking for anything specific for a VTS exhaust system because of the change??

supersprints are a good system to go for

Also the Saxsport exhaust is good

Dont believe theres any change between the engines that would mean you need a different exhaust

Kamracing exhaust is getting rave reviews at the moment.

get a saxsport, they sound the sex.

I may have a magnex for sale in the next few weeks if your intrested

    Thanks for the tips guys

Is there a huge difference between a 2k reg (W Reg) mk2 saxo and a 2001 saxo vts onwards??

A few websites I've looked at exhausts on have sections for 97-2k and then 2001 onwards, will a 2001 onwards exhaust not fit a 2k vts?

Have to admit after looking around, the Kam Racing/supersprint cat back system looks like good option at the mo even just on its price...

    Get a supersprint or saxsport

Dont bother with a magnex.....mine keeps snapping on the center box.....snapped again for the 4th time

Is it worth the extra £150+ for a saxport over a supersprint?

Also, from what I've read on the website, does the cat being in the back box over the centre pipe make much difference?

get a saxsport ffs, the only drawback i can see (not sure if this applies to the poopersprint or not) is...i have to keep my old standard system for mot time because you cant just stick your standard cat back on without changing the whole exhaust because its not compatible. unless you spend the big bucks on a catted saxsport? fuck that i got the peasant (and noisier) version with a decat section.

Woah looks like I've angered someone there.

Reason I want a catted system on there is so I can get a nicer sounding system etc without having to go through the hassle of changing it all over each time I have to MOT, plus I don't really have the room at home to store another exhaust system.

We have the supersprint cat back for Saxo on discount at the moment. Pre 2001 models only.
If you dont want the hassle of storing a standard system its good, though the standard cat will be quieter than a straight through.
you could run a supersprint race backbox though as its a 6" silencer its louder than most..

    Hi Kam

Thanks for the reply. Just to check that the superspring cat back does definitely incude the cat? I admit I'm a bit of a noob on these things and the pic just doesn't look 100% right to me.

it sits after the cat, so you keep your current one...

Ah I was under the impression that the Cat and the middle pipe were all one piece, Didn't realise they are seperate and join together, I now feel like quite a tit

just to clear things up cars pre 2001 have the cat under the car in between the down pipe and center pipe and the cars post 2001 have the cat in the manifold so the only difference between the two exhausts is that the post 2001 center pipe is about a foot longer to compensate for no cat being there, but most people fit post 2001 systems to pre 2001 cars to decat it with out having to buy a de-cat pipe, i have a post 2001 center section on my 1998 vts, in my eyes if you gonna buy a full exhaust buy a decat one as thats the most restrictive part of the system and will release the most power (correct me if im wrong) and it takes a couple minutes to swap the exhausts over for mot time
