Head bolt socket size

   Ok, bit of a noob question.
   
   What size socket do I need for my head bolts on a vts?
   I read somewhere that it's a 17mm but i've tried a few 17mm sockets and non fit inside the recess that the bolts are in.
   
   They seem like some kind of splined key.
   
   Can someone shed some light?

   E14 female/inverted torx sounds right. Been a while since Iv stripped one
