Mk2 saxo oil filter (its shorter than original one)

  1. #1
    Hi,

Can anyone tell me what car has a smaller oil filter than the standard mk2 insert type one?

I need to do an oil change but I cant find the correct filter for it, its an inch or 2 shorter than the original one.

    Thanks

Has it been converted to a MK1 filter?

Am I right in thinking the mk1 has the 'normal' style filter?

If so its not that, its just like the original one with the plastic case you remove and change the insert, but its shorter.

Its had the filter housing changed, so it could be from another citroen/peugeot.

    Thanks

I think I might have found out what it is.

The C3 (2005 1.4/1.6, most likely other years engine sizes aswell) 68mm filter instead of the standard 141mm filter.

Maybe getting the smaller filter canister and insert for a C3 may help those fitting mk1 manifolds?

Link to Halfords filters for the C3

Link to ebay showing a C3 oil filter housing

Its just the plastic oil filter cover/canister thats on it not the whole metal housing

Just checked on the car and the whole C3 housing on the ebay link looks like whats on the engine. The old one became porous and leaked so was changed, so maybe its all C3.

I dont know what the saxo one looks like so cant be 100%.

Also I cant edit my posts (hence all these posts) so it a mod wants to clean up my posts thats fine.
