advice on getting the most out of my vtr engine transplant

  1. #1
right i brought a vtr engine, loom and ecu a while ago to go in my 106 quiksilver.
i just want to know what else should i buy/adjust/fit to get the most out of the enigne as i might aswell do it all at the same time.
the enigne i am putting in is a 1999 1.6 8v 90bhp so i should see an improvement on my 75bhp unit now but is there any mods u would sugest to do? i know the normal of de-cat, manifold and air filter but what would be needed to get it to a healthy 100+ bhp and prices i shud be paying (all second hand)

    cheers. mark

You'll probably regret not buying a VTS engine, don't really see the point in upgrading if you aren't gonna go all out.

well at the moment ive got a 1.4 75bhp (when healthy) with a nakerd lambard sensor, slipping clutch

the 1.6 8v engine uses alot less petrol is alot less to ensure as i have a 110bhp limit so my insurance will not go up i just have to pay £10 to declair mods.

if i still had my no claims and i didnt have a crash last year then yes i would 16v the car but that isnt the case so 1.6 8v it has to be.

please guys what mods sould i be doing? is their any cam that will run on standard timming? untill i get chance get the car to a rolling road?

would i be better off running the vtr enigne on the quicksilver ecu and leave the quicksilver loom or just change the lot?

You could fit a cam shaft

While the engine is out you may as well change the timeing belt, tensioners & pullys & water pump, oil & filter, plugs...

Ide get the injectors cleaned aswell
