Important! : are vts cams keywayed?

    just because i need to take my pullleys off and dont want my timing to be buggered up.

    any word on this? wanting 100% correct answer so i dont mess it up please

    Don't really understand the question, but i'm fairly sure the J4 (VTS/ GTI engine) adjustable pulleys have a woodruff key to slot into the end of the camshaft.

    The pulleys will go back on in the same position they came off.

    But the locking hole is in the pulley, so the cams will move. And you'll have to set your timing up again when you fit the belt.

    (I think) lol

    hmm, a mean if i take vernier pulleys off, is there a way of doing it without setting the timing up again?

    Probably not as the cam might move. You don't want to risk it anyway unless you like smashing your valves up. It's easy anyway mate, just lock off the cams and crank, you only need a couple of bolts and an allen key.
