   ok so ofcourse it was in an area completely legal.. but my mk1 vts.. SPEC:
   57i k&n induction kit, straight through s/s with big bore 4" lol.. and recent service.. other than that standard..
   
   basically today was driving behind a audi a3 2.0T petrol.. we both participated in a slight increase in speed lmao and some how.. i kept up untill 4th at which time i then got closer and could of overtook.. how can a 1.6i vts some how keep up with a 2.0T audi? lol..
   
   Random chat but if this doesnt sound normal for basic mods what could of been done to it before i bought it to make it like this? as no records of any aftermarket mods in service history?!?!?! lol Thanks ppl

   he was because he started to pull away in first few gears.. do they do a 1.6t in the a3??

   2.0t means nothing.
   
   a 2.0t in a barge will be slow, a 2.0t in a saxo would be rapid. Saying you beat a car with a 2.0 engine doesn't mean much tbh. you need to take the weights into account.
   
   power to weight ratio, and driver skill - he might have been changing early as didn't want to play etc. etc.

    yup, some audi's are quick, the s3 1.8t is faster than a lot of the 2.0t purely because of weight, and then something like a corsa VXR with only a 1.6 turbocharged engine will be faster still, theres a 1.4 VW polo going round with a audi s3 engine in, tho the turbo is a bigger garrett one, apparently its 400bhp , hes been past me a few times and its scary how quick it is ,that makes me jealous

    Parkers says 2.0 TFSI A3 is 200bhp (197 being pedantic), with 0-60s of between 6.4 and 7.0s, and it's quite easy to get a VTS to sub 7s to 60, so just to give you an idea of the fact they're not as unmatched as you might think. (As said, the fact it's a 2.0l doesn't mean shit). So when rolling, until you get to massively higher speeds (where the extra power will keep pulling the A3), you're not going to have many issues with keeping up.
    
    Bigger engine does not automatically mean faster car.
    
    
    Throw in that it could be a 2.0TDI, and you've got an even bigger advantage, with it being either 140bhp, or 170bhp...

    ah i may be mistaken, i have driven both and in my opinion the corsa seems to be quicker, maybe not at top end but in a straight line
