hi im havin trouble i got a westcoast a few days ago, sometimes when u go to start it , it doesnt wanna start it just turns over the fuel pump primes everytime wit out a doubt it i turn ignition on then off a few times it will start im really scratchin my head its had new oil ,oil filter, fuel filter, plugs. im realli confused i fort it could be the fuel pressure regulator but does it have 1??? any help would be greatfull
Important! : help me im scratchin my head lol

#2might be some excessive humidity, since it started raining heavy for the past 36 hours.. Have alook at your coilpack too.
-
#3could it be anything to do with your immobiliser no? electrics?
-
#4iknow on my old 306 td there was a solenoid valve linked to immobiliser on injection pump. used to turn over but no fuel would get to engine due to pump not letting fuel in.
-
#5hi my car has clifford concept 650 so dont think its that as it starts after turnin ignition on n of a few times, its dome it since i had it and when the previuos owner had it. cud it be the fuel pressure regulator as turnin ignition on and off building the pressure up???
-
#6maybe dont know mate maybe some bright spark on here will help you does sound more like immobiliser fault tho
-
#7when you are cranking it over is the little orange immobiliser key lighting up?
also have you started it since the new plugs/service?
Are you sure ht leads were put on in the right order to the corresponding spark plug and the plugs were gapped correctly? also if the fuel filter has been does is it on backwards not allowing fuel to flow properly? -
#8Does the blue clifford alarm light flash when it wont start?
If so, then the alarm immobiliser has activated. -
#9hi i have a blue immobilser light it goes off when the car starts, it does start eventually after turning ignition on and off a few times. im jus scratchin my head here lol, fuel filter must b the rite way as it does start but some times takes a few tries but then again some times starts fine
-
#10spark plug gaps? battery voltage?Quote:hi i have a blue immobilser light it goes off when the car starts, it does start eventually after turning ignition on and off a few times. im jus scratchin my head here lol, fuel filter must b the rite way as it does start but some times takes a few tries but then again some times starts fine

#11i will check them but as i sed its like the car has a mind of its own as it starts fine sometimes just the odd ocassion it wont lol it realli buggin me
-
#13it seems like theres a flat spot at the beggining of the throttle and then it picks up, it pulld untill about 5000? other than that its fine. where is the throttle sensor on a west coast??
-
#14If the blue light is flashing before you start the car, then the immobiliser is self activating.Quote:hi i have a blue immobilser light it goes off when the car starts, it does start eventually after turning ignition on and off a few times. im jus scratchin my head here lol, fuel filter must b the rite way as it does start but some times takes a few tries but then again some times starts fine

#15hi the blue light gos off when i unlock the car
-
#16hi just to update this i have now replaced wat i think is the fuel pressure regulator and it still cuts out does ne one kno ne ideas please
-
#17just fixed my m8s clio with the same problem not so long back it was the crankshaft sensor thay are esantaly just a magnet that picks up the gap on your fly wheel so it knows where the no 1 cylinder is to start the car but when thay wear eventualy it cannot pick up the location on the fly wheel so the ecu dosent no where to fire on whitch pistson as thay wear thay get worse unit the car just wont start at all i had to fix my m8s outside of where he worked because there was no way of moving it since then car has been mint. do you hav an engine management light on tho this dosent always have to be on for it not to start am pritty certan your experanceing this same problem
-
#18Sounds like the Engine speed sensor(crank sensor) as Macky says. The way you are describing sounds like the sensor winding is starting to break down hence the random starting patternsQuote:just fixed my m8s clio with the same problem not so long back it was the crankshaft sensor thay are esantaly just a magnet that picks up the gap on your fly wheel so it knows where the no 1 cylinder is to start the car but when thay wear eventualy it cannot pick up the location on the fly wheel so the ecu dosent no where to fire on whitch pistson as thay wear thay get worse unit the car just wont start at all i had to fix my m8s outside of where he worked because there was no way of moving it since the car has been mint. do you hav an engine management light on tho this dosent always have to be on for it not to work

#19hi thanks for advise i have taken the crank sensor off and cleaned it but like u sayin if its breaking down it wont matter lol. if its the crank sensor will dat cause it to randomly stall when i drive down the road????? i really need to sort this its annoying now as i know its some think simple
-
#20yea it would, my mates 206 done it, crank sensor is similair to throttle sensor, it basically cant pick up which cycle your engine is in TDC BDC etc etc and will cause is to throw all sorts of wobblies with erratic driving and runningQuote:hi thanks for advise i have taken the crank sensor off and cleaned it but like u sayin if its breaking down it wont matter lol. if its the crank sensor will dat cause it to randomly stall when i drive down the road????? i really need to sort this its annoying now as i know its some think simple

#21rite update changed crank sensor today fort it had sorted it but no still cuts out randomly is it worth channging the throttle sensor???? surely cant be much more to change now lol
-
#22Sounds like a fuelling problem to me..
-
#23i have changed the fuel pressure regulator well what i think was it lol, the fuel pump primes everytime with out a doubt so im stuck now, any ideas would be greatful
-
#24jus to update this i have now finally sorted my car i got a new fuel pump and seems to be fine now lol after all that it was some think simple hope this helps others
-
#25yea mate i would also so say that was possible as the sensor must constanty no where the no cylinder is in the fireing order for the fuel injection ect.. one thing that you can do is if you no sumone with anthor saxo like yours ask them nicely to borrow there sensor lol and if the car is better then its deff that or you could just get one from a scrap yard and try it.
