brought my vtr yesterday and when we drove it home the temp gauge got to 3/4 of the way then when we turned the car off the fan can on. checked oil and water and everything seems fine, no mayo looking gunk on oil cap or water bottle. Is this normal with the vtr, just a bit worried as I just got it yesterday and dont want it to be in the garage the next lol
vtr seems to get hot quick

#2My fan kicks in after about 15 - 20 minutes driving.. The fans so loud and embaressing lol
My needles sits just above half way. As long as the needles doesnt go into the red it should be ok.....
You like the car mate ? -

#4I had the same problem on my 98vtr.. The temp gauge kept going above half way.. Garage told me empty the coolent and re fill it with fresh water and coolent and the temp gauge stayed half way
-
#5aslong as the gauge dosent carry on goin till the car over heats though it should stay at half way if its over heating your thermistat could be sticking
-
#6i had the same problem when i bought mine temp was near the red but never went onto it and fan kicked in. i put a new thermostat in coz wasnt happy about it. it goes to 3/4 now when thrashin. sits a bit above half normal drivin. its worth checkin their not even a tenner easy to fit.
-
#7yeah flush your rad system out mate and change your thermostat. dont go to halfords for a thermostat though. if that doesnt solve your problem its quite common and its not going to hurt unless it goes into the red

#8Mines never gone over just over halfway - when my coolant was done incorrectly, the car was warming up a lot quicker than before, so had to redo it.

#10thanks, when i start driving it around more im going to keep an eye on it to see if it keeps doing it if so i will change thermostat and change coolant, thanks for your help guys.
